German brand Rimowa is already famous for their lightweight luggage, but their new Salsa Air line claims to cut another 26% off of that weight. This is good news, but I’d rather stick with the older, heavier ones if it means not being seen with these pastel colors. Hopefully they’ll make one in the classic silver.

When the Travelfriend luggage started popping up on the blogosphere, I was excited to see something new and unique. The sleek form paired with leather and carbon fiber panels give it a very automotive feel, which is very appealing to me. The photos, with their private jets, helicopters, and Range Rovers, exude luxury. I was extremely impressed and I had to find out more.

So I was understandably disappointed when I went to the Henk website and was greeted by a gaudy Flash introduction video. Everything I saw after pressing the “Skip Intro” button was just as discouraging, from the terribly photoshopped mock ups to the overuse of the word retrofuturistic. I realize that the bags and the website are two separate things, but the quality of one reflects upon the quality of the other. I’ll give Henk the benefit of the doubt until I handle it in person; hopefully it lives up to the hype.

Blackbird released some new bags by Filson that feature their Rugged Twill and Genuine Bridle Leather. The collection includes a rucksack, tote, pullman, wallet, and glasses case. Besides the two high-end materials they use, the bags are pretty average. The wallet really stood out because I’ve never seen one made of both leather and twill.

I don’t own any Burton bags, but if the quality of the bags is anywhere near the quality of their snowboard gear, I’m already impressed. My favorite piece of this collection is the brown bag pictured above (which I believe is a backpack, there isn’t much info yet). I love the worn-in look and the vintage-like Burton label. I know I recently hated on the camo pattern, but this one isn’t too gaudy, right? I thought I’d post about it because TUMI is a good brand and I’m sure there are people who would like this collection.
