Steven Alan x V Australia x …you?? The famous designer is working on the perfect bag with Richard Branson’s new airline, V Australia, and documenting the process on the Perfect Project blog. The best part is that he’s encouraging the public to inspire him with their favorite bags and comment on his ideas. Being able to see Steven Alan’s design process is amazing; being able to contribute to it is just unreal. I’m excited to see how it turns out.

ACL & Co. Teaser

Michael Williams of A Continuous Lean has finally announced that his shop and brand, ACL & Co., will go live on November 23rd (or if you’re in NY on the 20-22nd, you can go to the Pop Up Flea). He hasn’t given much info about the product except for this teaser image. The fabrics and zippers look really nice, I can’t wait to find out what kind of bags they are (crossing my fingers for laptop bags). This is all so exciting because I love to see blogs turn into something real and tangible that’s not a book.

Porter x Monocle Garment Bag

Porter and Monocle continue their series of collaboration bags with this awesome garment bag. I don’t often wear suits or other clothes that would require this type of bag, but seeing this makes me wish I did. The deceivingly small bag unfolds into a hangable cover big enough for a weekend. The detail shots reveal the vast amount of random inner and outer pockets which, for some reason, I can’t get enough of. Available through Monocle.

Hard Graft 3Fold Bag

Transformers, Beast Wars, Mystique… I’ve always been into shapeshifters. So you can imagine my excitement when I heard about Hard Graft’s new transformable 3Fold bag. The 3Fold can function as three different bags: Laptop, Portfolio, and Overnighter. Not only is the bag extremely functional, it also looks amazing. I love the juxtaposition of grey and brown leathers. Each bag is handmade and individually numbered by a family of leather artisans in Tuscany.

MA 280BGU3 Hoop Bag

The title of the blog post at Blackbird asks, “crazy amazing or just crazy?” I say crazy amazing, but I still can’t see myself using such a bag. It’s a long, pig leather rectangle with zippers on both sides that allows the user to transform it in many ways. The best looking is slung to the side. When it’s worn in front, it just looks like a weird leather apron. As weird as it is, I love to see something unique coming out of the bag world.

Delvaux x Monocle Newspaper Bag

Monocle will be teaming up with Belgian leather goods firm Delvaux to create this amazing newspaper bag. It’s named so because of the straps on the sides in which you can slide your daily newspaper. It also features an inner pocket to fit A4 papers or a laptop. What I find most stunning is the woven leather outer that creates a unique texture that I’ve never seen on leather.
