My first impression of Altadena Works’ latest bag was that it looks like a fancy grocery bag. And apparently, that’s what it was originally designed to do. They say it’s not limited to this function, and although this is true, grocery shopping is really the only thing I can see myself using this bag for.

The bag is made of Horween Chromexal leather that is hand-dyed for a unique look. If you’re in the market (pun intended) for a new tote, I’d say this is a good choice.

The “large” in the title is an understatement. This is something I’d never use, but I admire Oak’s boldness in creating such an impractical bag. It does come in medium and small, but large is the only one worth noting.

Mismo presented their latest collection at last weekend’s (capsule) show in New York and will be showing it again this weekend at (capsule) Paris. The bags feature a Mismo-exclusive full grain leather, which exude quality. The laptop briefcase is easily the most exciting bag from the collection.

Lanvin presents a unique take on the tote bag for this upcoming Spring/Summer season. Not many details (or pictures, for that matter) were given for the bag. All I know is that it’s made of cotton, silk, and leather. It looks great from the outside, I just wish I could see how it looks on the inside…

Lanvin’s latest collection of bags for the upcoming Spring/Summer season is a mix of classically simple and runway loud. I’m not feeling those zig zags but I’m loving the white/brown colorway. Not much info yet, but as with anything Lanvin, you can expect luxury and dollar signs to go with it.

When I think of paper bags, I think of the more fragile choice of bag at the market. But SIWA ensures that these paper bags can hold cargo up to 10 kg/22 lbs, even when wet. It’s an interesting concept, especially because the bags will show wear throughout its life. The collection includes a holdall and various totes; I’m not a fan of the totes though, because they just look like grocery bags.

Porter has teamed up with Levi’s for a collection of bags and cases ranging from key holders to waist bags to totes. Each item is available in black or brown canvas and features the iconic red tab attached to the Porter label.

Here’s a great looking tote bag from Italian company Daniel & Bob. I love the leather details and the thick, contrast-weaving canvas. Available at Museum Ark.

The title of the blog post at Blackbird asks, “crazy amazing or just crazy?” I say crazy amazing, but I still can’t see myself using such a bag. It’s a long, pig leather rectangle with zippers on both sides that allows the user to transform it in many ways. The best looking is slung to the side. When it’s worn in front, it just looks like a weird leather apron. As weird as it is, I love to see something unique coming out of the bag world.

Original Fake has teamed up with Porter to create a simple backpack and tote bag. The relatively subtle pieces feature a khaki/green outer with the Kaws all over print. The bags themselves are extremely boring, but I think the Kaws print gives them some character.
